Maria Mason is a member of the Enterprise Payments team at Citizens Bank.  Her work focuses on solutions that will enable capabilities to ensure the movement of money occurs safely and compliantly 24/7.  She is focused on enabling the core payment rails (wires, ACH, RTP, etc..) while supporting the bank’s efforts to develop a technology-first focus for customer payments. 

Before her work at Citizens, she was at Fifth Third Bank for seven years leading commercial payment products and teams.  During her tenure, she led building out Real-Time Payments and FedNow to create the most comprehensive Instant Payment availability.  She also covered roles in Audit Governance and IT Project Management and then took on various roles in Product Management. 

Before Fifth Third Bank, Maria worked for Navient leading integrations of back-office ERP systems. 

She is involved in The Clearing House working groups, The FedNow Fraud Working Group, and The Federal Reserve Remittance workgroup.  In addition, she is on the board of the Faster Payments Council. 

Maria resides in Cincinnati Ohio with her husband and two dogs.  Even though she is an empty nester, her house is always filled with family and fun.  On weekends and holidays, you can find her on a boat on the Ohio River or at a sports venue.  She is an avid sports junkie and is always expecting the next great win from her favorite teams (Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and The Ohio State Buckeyes).
